Hi they are 'midi tunes' of popular songs - the first one is the song "Dream" (all you have to do is dream)to represent the ability of us to remember the pier as it was, I kind of remember my aunts/mum talking about holiday's in Weston in the 50's/60's for example - and simon and garfunkel's "sound of silence" - which is the empty kind of feeling you get when something has changed in your everyday life that you have no control over.
Thanks for a great slideshow of the pier, i too have very happy memories of visiting Weston, highlight of our weekend was going to The Tropicana and then onto the pier for chips a walk up the promenade clutching my pennies always managing to lose some down the cracks in the floorboards. How anyone can say it is a waste of time i do not know, they obviously have no idea the impact that this fire has caused for everyone involved.I no longer live local but will be visiting soon, thanks again.
The tropicana is being pulled down too unfortunately, but hopefully the new development built there in its place will have a bit of space for normal swimming - the splash in Bridgwater is alright - I'll just have to borrow some kids so i don't look like a wierdo going there!
So glad I managed to see the boat race the day before. After the new Go-Karting and climbing wall was up I hoped to head there that day but by the time I arrived I was totally shocked at the amount of smoke on the horizon. When I got there it was like my childhood swept away in a blink of an eye.
I have some pics so if any1 wants me to ill put them on youtube x
We need the Tropicana back fast for the meantime!
